Top Secret

The House of Hesse is far more than a well established name. As well as the hotel, the House maintains and cares for a vast wealth of cultural artifacts through its many properties and museum.

Origins

Having operated since 1952, the Grand Hotel Hessischer Hof is owned by the family foundation of the Landgraves and the Princes of Hessen. Indeed it is the only privately run five-star hotel in the city.
Unshackled by the bonds of corporate interference, the hotel reaches back to an opulent past and treats every guest with the attentive care and dignity afforded to the Princes of old.
Yet this is not a hotel that rests on its laurels, or is stuck in the past, with Nina Campbell designed wallpapers and a fully equipped gym testifying to this fact. Rather the Hessischer Hof embraces the best aspects of the old and the new. The personal, smiling service of modernity, and the attentive, dutiful courtesy of times gone by.

The Review

To those weary travellers seeking sanctuary in the heart of one of Germany’s largest and most vibrant cities, look no further than the Grandhotel Hessischer Hof. Providing guests with a range of stunning decors, from the tasteful Art Déco detail in the rooms, to the imposing grandeur of the lobby, this five star hotel has surely earned its ‘grand’ prefix.
Thought and grace pervade every aspect of this immaculate establishment, especially when it comes to displaying the hotel’s culinary prowess. At any given moment during your stay, the Grandhotel will consistently impress with the range and sophistication of its menus. Starting at breakfast, one is presented with a truly awe-inspiring array of delicacies. The options meander through the traditional and expected, to the prodigiously novel, such as sushi and champagne breakfasts. For afternoon tea it has to be the Winter Garden, where one can enjoy a sumptuous array of cakes and tea. The finest food is, of course, reserved for dinner, and the famed Sèvres Restaurant provides the splendorous setting for such a meal. The walls are adorned in Feuillet Porcelain, while each course is arranged and presented for you at the table by the maître d'hôtel. Wines are paired by the hotel’s sommelier, with many provided by the hotel’s own ‘Prinz Von Hessen’ vineyard.
Finally, after an evening at one of the local area’s world famous opera houses, you can retreat to Jimmy’s Bar for some soothing live piano and cocktails. Indeed the rich wood-paneled bar has
established itself an institutional linchpin of Frankfurt nightlife, recently winning Glenfiddich’s ‘Bar of the Year’.
